Children’s tableware
Design language and product design of Knatteplock’s tableware for children.
Knatteplock offers a range of products focused on inspiring children to explore food. Our task was to redesign four core products for Knatteplock, infusing them with a cohesive design language that reflects the brand’s identity and appeals to both children and parents.
We established several design cues to ensure unity across the product line. Each item features the same soft, clean aesthetic that defines the Knatteplock brand, along with functional elements tailored for children. A key visual element is the Wave design, appearing subtly across products to create recognition. Additionally, we incorporated Knatteplock’s signature Hand icon, adding a playful yet unifying mark that appears on the eating surface and the cutlery’s grip. These consistent touches reinforce the brand identity, helping children recognize and relate to the product family over time.
Knatteplock’s products encourage both children’s joy of eating and motor skills development.
Design process
We started off by analyzing the brand landscape to position Knatteplock in relation to the competition. The positioning acted as a guide for the visual brand direction. From this we focused on four different products and developed a few concept directions using cues to create resemblance between the products. In close collaboration with the team at Knatteplock we decided on the strongest design cues and finalized a concept direction.
As a final step we produced and delivered surface CAD-models for manufacturing.
With these new established design elements and guidelines we can keep designing new products together with Knatteplock.
